Mid-century mass production printing on cardboard has a unique look that’s emulated quite a bit these days. One would think the designers that made these matchbox labels were aware of how to make the best of the medium. It seems every possible misregistration was taken into account. Looking back on them now, it would appear they were designed to improve with every beating of the press. This is what graphic design is about.

Jane McDevitt has compiled a massive collection of these Matchbox Labels. Check out her blog as well.
