Two clever lamps, one from Sweden and one from Germany.

The Sketch Lamp, by Hommin in Stockholm, flips and swivels to transform into a lightbox. Perfect for drafting, but I imagine that the lamp could be maneuvered to light from any angle, which is great for photography, too. Also I am very attracted to the idea of a desk lamp that is as large as an A4 paper.

Dresden-based Dreipuls received a red dot design award last year for its Rima Desk Lamp, a track-lighting system where a strip of LEDs are activated as the user slides the ring-shaped “switches” from side to side. Too bad it’s still in its concept stages, but maybe while they’re still prototyping it, they can make a deluxe version that I will eventually install on the ceilings of my enormous apartment (also a concept yet to be realized).
